Rock-Is-Life.com Review of "Pills And Ammo"

The Good
[Guitarist/vocalist Joe Delaney] flexes his wah pedal and vocal tube on the trippy track "Hole in My Soul." Thick bass grooves dominate "Finger." [Delaney] delivers a gritty, yet soulful vocal here. [and] delivers a dark and tortured performance on "Lonely Town Blues." Joetown help the dark pace progress with some heavy blues riffs. "All My Angels" takes things to a heavier level with monster riffs and blood-thirsty vocals. "Broken Man" is just as twisted lyrically as it is rhythmically. The bonus track "My Anger Knows No Bounds" ends the album with an energetic and furious band.

The Bad
Two tracks, both clocking in at 45 seconds, are completely unnecessary.

The Verdict
Pills and Ammo is one of those albums that you have to give a second listen to. My first impression was quickly changed upon further inspection. Joetown delivers some dark, twisted, and heavy material on his sophomore release. The album could double as the soundtrack to a fu**ed-up horror/thriller movie.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.
